About Us

Our History and our preferences

The Debadatta club had a humble beginning in the year 1992 and started its intervention in the drought prone Padampur Sub Division of Bargarh district which is one of the most backward
and tribal belt of Odisha. The beginning was under the leadership of youth activists who cherished great dreams and less of clear vision. This initiation was moved with large scale issue
focused campaign activities in Gaisilat Block in particular and the district in general. Even though at the beginning the issues regular drought; distress migration, lack of NTFP marketing, low literacy rate, high MMR and IMR, lack of communication, lack of irrigation, lack of political will, the women are mostly affected. The organization has united and organized all illiterate women as well as innocent women, poor to very poor women, widow women; women headed families, helpless old women, disabled women and land less women. Debadatta club has tried to make these women conscious of their rights and dignity and develop their ability to such an extent that they will be able to solve their own problems.
